Get ready for one of Plett’s most iconic winter events! The Wedge Classic, South Africa’s longest-running bodyboarding contest, returns with a splash this July at the legendary Wedge Beach. Expect high-flying action, deep barrels, and beach vibes for the whole family.
Divisions:
BODYBOARDING:
- Juniors (<18)
- Open (All ages)
- Masters (45+)
- Ladies (All ages)
- Drop Knee (All ages)
SURFING:
- Juniors (<18)
- Open (All ages)
- Ladies (All ages)
What to expect this year:
- Market Stalls & Coffee Vendors – Fuel up while you soak up the sun and stoke.
- Daily Bitcoin Treasure Hunts – Find golden pebbles on the beach, weigh them at the Bitcoin stand, and get paid in real sats – spend them on-site or stash them in your wallet. Fun for kids and adults alike!
- Grom Games (Ages 13 & under) – A 2-hour bodyboarding workshop & fun comp just for the groms! Learn wave-riding skills, ocean smarts, and grow your stoke. Includes a t-shirt, goodie bag, and prize-giving at Slops.
- Granny Groms (Mature ladies) – Whether you’re brand new or coming back for more, this workshop helps build confidence in the surf with bodyboarding basics and ocean awareness. Ends with a fun comp, t-shirt, goodie bag, and a celebration at Surf Café with open mic vibes!
Triple Crown Competition
Entry Rules: To compete in the Wedge Classic Triple Crown and stand a chance to win BIG prizes, you must:
Enter one main division – Choose either Surfing or Bodyboarding as your primary division (R400).
Enter an add-on division – This must be from the opposite category of your main division (R200).
If your main division is Surfing, your add-on must be Bodyboarding.
If your main division is Bodyboarding, your add-on must be Surfing.
Enter the Mystery Division (R200).
